Popular restaurant broadens its menu, updates dining spaces

CHARLOTTE, NC – Since opening in 2008, BlackFinn American Saloon has served thousands of guests and become one of uptown Charlotte’s most popular dining and entertainment destinations. Over the past few weeks, BlackFinn has undergone multiple upgrades that will enhance the BlackFinn Experience.

Among the changes at BlackFinn is an expanded kitchen, which prepares a broader selection of BlackFinn’s signature contemporary style of classic American fare. The updated BlackFinn menu includes old favorites as well as new recipes, highlighted by choice cut steaks, select seafood and pasta, chicken, chops, burgers, salads, sandwiches and tempting desserts. BlackFinn serves lunch and dinner seven days a week.

New dishes include the signature Queen City Chicken – bacon-crusted chicken cutlets stuffed with sweet sausage, Steak Frites American served with truffle fries and Lime Seared Salmon served with roasted corn and black bean pico de gallo, rice pilaf and fresh steamed asparagus.

Culinary Director Mark Szymanski helped create the updated BlackFinn menu. Szymanski left Morton’s Restaurant Group after 10 years to oversee the growth of BlackFinn’s culinary program. His resume spans 30 years in the restaurant business and also includes stints with Marriott Corporation and Bob Evans Restaurants.

“The BlackFinn brand is evolving,” said Szymanski. “This menu represents that evolution on the culinary side. We will still serve many of our popular Saloon favorites, but the new menu will include fresh, new options and some updated interpretations of classic American fare.”

In addition to an expanded kitchen and broader menu, BlackFinn has updated its dining spaces on the lower level. The Dining Room has been completely renovated with new carpet, seating, lighting and décor, all of which conveys a comfortable, Charlotte-inspired theme. The Patio has also been renovated, adding more space, new seating and lighting just in time for warmer weather.

“The new BlackFinn will still be the place our guests know and love, only better,” said Gregg McConnell, BlackFinn Operating Partner. “We have updated dining spaces and a new menu, but still possess the same welcoming atmosphere, impeccable service and rocking Saloon.”

BlackFinn was born of the desire to create a classic, enduring place where the community gathers to enjoy quality food and celebrate camaraderie. BlackFinn offers a contemporary interpretation of classic American fare prepared using fresh, local ingredients. Whether sharing an appetizer or quick drink with friends, savoring a mouth-watering meal, hosting a private party or rooting for your favorite team on game day, BlackFinn’s inviting atmosphere makes it an ideal setting for any occasion. Best of all, as dinner winds down, BlackFinn’s welcoming Saloon means your evening doesn’t have to end with dessert.
