The Steve Smith Family Foundation presents inaugural Lace Up Son 5K
CHARLOTTE, NC – It is time to lace up, son! Steve Smith will host his first event in Matthews since his dramatic release from the Carolina Panthers, and everyone is invited.
On Monday, May 26, join Smith and The Steve Smith Family Foundation for the inaugural Lace Up Son 5K at the Siskey YMCA located in Matthews, NC. The family friendly event is an all morning, Memorial Day celebration complete with a pancake breakfast, kid’s fun run, inflatable attractions, DJ, group exercise classes, admission to the Siskey YMCA’s outdoor pool and more.
“I’m excited to host the Foundation’s first 5K in Matthews. This is a great opportunity to celebrate with the community that has supported me for the last 13 years, and through the foundation, give back to them,” said Smith. “You better lace up, son!”
Individual entry fees are $35 per person. Groups up to four runners are $80, with $15 per additional entry. VIP packages are also available, and are $200 per group of four. All proceeds benefit the Siskey YMCA Annual Campaign which gives kids, families and adults in need the chance to participate in life-changing Y programs that inspire potential, improve quality of life and ensure access for all.
“The Smith family will always be a part of our community,” said Siskey YMCA Executive Director Rich Gallagher. “The Y is proud to team up with The Steve Smith Family Foundation to provide a fun, family event that strengthens the community and promotes healthy activity.”
The race kicks off at 8:15 a.m. and runners will check in at the Siskey YMCA before being shuttled to the 5K course, which winds through the beautiful streets of downtown Matthews. Participants of all skill levels and ages are welcome to run in the Lace Up Son 5K, especially those joining in honor or memory of military service men and women.
All registration and event information can be found at SteveSmithFamilyFdn.org/events.
